Lord Galdbrand's Journal #3
Dreams of Hell
I had a dream or vision of something. It hasn’t left me and I feel I have to share it with people. I don’t know why and I am certain this was not from me. All I know is that it does matter and so I will share it.
I saw a place where the sky was light but bordered by darkness. Like the space was dark and lit from above by a lightbulb. The ground was stark white and gently slopped upward. It was covered by rocks and people in the fetal position. They were trying not to look at the light.
I also saw creatures kneeling on the ground and staring up into the light. Their bodies were pure darkness and their eyes were the same light as above. They held out their hands at their sides or in front of them in supplication. They were praying or perhaps begging.
I didn’t understand what this was. Then a voice spoke to me and gave me the insight I needed to understand. I was in Hell. The creatures of darkness were demons. The people were human souls. The light was the light of God.
The light hurt the demons and the sinners. It burned them till there were no discernible features on their bodies. The demons were staring up at what once was a source of comfort. Now it just burned them and there was no love or comfort there. The sinners also found no warmth or comfort in the light and it burned their skin to match the pale terrain.
I was deeply afraid. Because even now I could feel demons at the edge of my senses. They wanted me to fall to sin and join them in this place. I wasn’t sure if I was afraid cause I feared I would fall to sin or continue in it, or if the fear was that they would somehow drag me down.
Later I would find out that demons have no way to cause physical damage to humans without a massive caveat. At the time I didn’t know better. The voice kept me calm enough to move forward and to feel safe. I would later realize it was God. Maybe it was The Holy Spirit or some other part of the trinity. That’s not important. What is important is that I started climbing the slope until I reached the top. I would describe the climb as easy. What came next was anything but.
Something I want to include before continuing is that as a Christian there are certain things we are taught that are vital to this last part. First is that “Satan” is not a name but a title. Meaning we don’t know the name of this spirit. Also even in scripture the word “demon” is not used often and instead spirit is used.
Spirits refer to all things that are not of this world. Spirits can be good or bad. This is where we get the angel and demon distinction from. The reason why this mattress is that we know the name of God and of some of the angels. Demons would never tell you their names. Names have power.
So by referring to the specific enemy as “Satan” it creates a level of separation. This is important because it helps keep us safe. Because using the real name of an evil spirit might catch their attention. So I want to be clear that the thing I saw is an unclean spirit that I call “The Accuser”.
The spirit was seated on a broken throne. It starred into the light. Without looking at me it began to speak. The voice was deep and resonate. It scared me deeply. At times I felt like it moved and tried to attack me or even just intimidate me. I never saw it move once.
The Accuser and I had a conversation with God stepping in to help me. Was I actually speaking to an unclean spirit? No. This was likely a manifestation of the general sense of spiritual oppression I was under at the time.
I won’t recount the whole conversation as that isn’t the point. I will give you the highlights. I learned that the demons have no real power. Fear and manipulation are their best tools. They cannot create anything, only twist what already exists. They also are opportunists. They latch onto any weakness in people and use that to make everything worse.
Those who give themselves over to God are protected from these spirits. But they also must heal their wounds. They have to sever all ties to the spirits and seek true change and repentance.
So what am I saying by telling you this story? I have no idea. I will say here is what I am not saying. I am not saying to speak to demons and unclean spirits. They lie and only God could make them tell truth. So why go to them when you can go to God?
I am not saying to look for visions from God. If you are granted one then obey what God wants you to do with it. Nothing else.
Other than that I hope you get something out of this.

Powerful vision. The detail about demons staring at what used to be their source of comfort but now only burns them really captures that permanent seperation from grace. I had a similar spiritual experince a few years back that shook me for weeks, so I get that compulsion to share even when you're not totally sure why. The part about fear and manipulation being their only tools (no creative power) aligns with classical theology too.
